Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B

It’s been 5 years since baby girl also known as Aaliyah Dana Haughton died tragically from a plane crash. While it doesn’t quite feel like it’s been that long the singer has left an everlasting impression on the music industry to this this day. Not only has here influence lived on through the artists coming out now but her impact has been left among the hearts of fans across the world who can tell you the first time they heard her song, the first time they saw her dance across the screen leading them to go on and learn the steps to her choreography, and sadly the moment where they heard for that she had passed away at the early age of 22.

While her time on earth was short she has left this lane in music and R&B to be more specific that can never be duplicated. Aaliyah made it cool to wear shades and baggy clothes in a time where if your were a female in the R&B lane you were either wholesome girl next door or a sex symbol. Aaliyah made it cool to just be yourself and created her own swag. Which girls in my generation gravitate to because we were shown that it’s okay to wear my hat to the back and have a swag about myself that shouldn’t be taken as being a tomboy.

Thank you for making it okay to be yourself, and for all the timeless music you left behind. Baby Girl you will be forever missed.
